our team

  • darcy

Few people are as central to serving our clients as Darcy. In her role as supervising office manager for both of our offices, Darcy has the answer to just about any administrative or service-related question you can think to ask or knows how to find it. Darcy also has many years of experience in individual tax preparation and assists in all stages of proofing and formatting reports and correspondence. Her compassion, technical aptitude, and attention to detail are a few of the qualities that make her uniquely capable of servicing our clients with personal care and professional excellence.

One of her other passions is being a foster parent to babies. So if it’s not our busy time in the office, there is quite often a baby in their home (and sometimes the office) receiving lots of love. Darcy enjoys spending time with her family, taking care of her grandsons, taking a cruise vacation, kayaking with her husband, and relaxing with a good book or a 4 star Sudoku.

  • laurie, cpa

Having managed her own business and also provided accounting services for many years before joining Battershell & Nichols, P.S., Laurie brings a hands-on, common-sense insight when working with clients and helping them understand their financial information. As our clients will readily tell you, Laurie is personally dedicated to empowering people to manage their financial data accurately and to find effective answers to their questions. At Battershell & Nichols, Laurie is a key contributor to our audit and financial reporting practice, financial services, and our corporate tax and consulting engagements.

Laurie is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Bookkeeper with the AIPB. She regularly enjoys the outdoors with her husband, volunteers at her church, and cherishes the time she gets with her children and grandchildren. Laurie's passion for life and learning is contagious. Her upbeat perspective makes every project and every challenge an adventure to be experienced, and ultimately an experience to be enjoyed.

  • todd, cpa

With over twenty-two years of experience in public accounting and corporate tax preparation, Todd brings a breadth and depth of industry experience to our clients. Todd manages a large cross-section of the financial reporting at Battershell & Nichols while also contributing significantly to our tax practice.

It's not uncommon to find Todd outdoors at his daughters' soccer games, relaxing by a campfire with his family, or searching for fresh powder on his snowmobile in the winter. Todd is a natural mentor and leader, roles that he readily embraces at work, at home, and with men at his church. Among other things, we readily look to Todd as our resident expert on Seahawk stats and everything sushi.

  • darby

Darby serves as a specialist in Form 990 tax and informational reporting, assists with the preparation of financial statements, and provides support services to the Puyallup and Federal Way offices. Darby has an infectious smile and extraordinary ability to see the positive in everything. This combined with her many years of experience in tax preparation and regulatory compliance, makes her a valuable part of our client service team.

Darby has a special fondness for driving large vehicles and earth-moving equipment. But even when these are unavailable, she is equally content to sit on the floor playing cars, trucks, and trains with her grand nephew, tend to her vegetable garden with a hand trowel, or head to the mountain to get in some time on the slopes.

  • ellie

With over twenty years of accounting and tax preparation experience, Ellie contributes substantially to our financial reporting and tax preparation practices. Ellie loves people and strangers are just friends she hasn’t met yet. She enjoys coming along side people and helping them succeed and realize their full potential. It's qualities like these that make Ellie a perfect fit for our firm and enable us to truly put our clients first in all that we do.

On a personal level, Ellie enjoys the company of friends and family in her home, actively volunteering at her church, and frequenting local estate sales, garage sales, and anywhere else that smells of a bargain. If there's ever an opportunity to help others or make someone's day, you can be sure Ellie is there, coming ready with a can-do attitude and probably some chocolate too.
