After graduating from Pacific Lutheran University with honors, Rick began his career at Ernst and Young, working in their tax and compliance practice for over seven years. Following Ernst & Young, Rick worked with a local firm for several years before establishing his own practice in 1992.
Rick is a certified public accountant (CPA), has completed a Master's degree in Taxation, and oversees financial reporting and taxation services at Battershell & Nichols. He is a regular speaker and contributor to National Association of Church Business Administration as well as Ministry Management Seminars, organizations committed to educating churches and not-for-profits in emerging tax, management, and finance topics.
Rick’s passion is to help churches, pastors, businesses, and individuals manage their finances most effectively to achieve their God given purposes. Rick provides a number of services including:
• Providing state and IRS tax guidance and planning for businesses, individuals, pastors, churches, and other charitable nonprofits to help minimize taxes
• Consulting with businesses, churches, and not-for-profit organizations to strengthen policies and procedures, maximize financial resources, and improve financial management and controls
Rick loves working and sharing life with his best friend and wife of 30+ years. Outside of the office, it is not unusual to see Rick holding a foster baby –over the last 9 years they have had over 30 little ones come through their home. He loves spending time with family and friends, golfing, biking, walking, playing guitar, and reading a novel while baking under the warm sun.
Robin began her career in the audit practice at Ernst and Young immediately following her graduation with honors from Pacific Lutheran University. After five years at Ernst & Young and two years at a mid-size local firm, Robin formed her own practice in 1993 to serve a growing client base in the greater Puget Sound area.
Robin is a certified public accountant (CPA), specializes in helping organizations operate with better efficiency and accountability, and oversees financial reporting and consulting services at Battershell & Nichols.
Her passion for people has motivated her to volunteer and lead actively in her local church and other organizations. When she's not working or volunteering, Robin can often be found working with her horses, gardening, enjoying a variety of art and music, or spending time in the outdoors with her husband, Gordon.
